Dear Friends,
Since our last progress report at the end of 2023, we are delighted to welcome two new industry partners, Venus Remedies, and Innoviva. Their contributions add to the wealth of surveillance data already being shared by our other seven partners, GSK, Johnson & Johnson, Merck, Paratek, Pfizer, Shionogi and Venatorx. The high-quality data offered from these programs were requested by researchers through the AMR Register 173 times since we launched in 2021. Many of the datasets on the AMR Register are updated annually allowing repeat requests from previous researchers looking to expand their research.
The Annual Vivli AMR Surveillance Data Challenge has been going strong and continues to further encourage data re-use. In June 2024 we launched the second Vivli AMR Surveillance Data Challenge, funded by GARDP, Paratek, Pfizer, and Vivli. Finalists were announced in the fall, with the seven awardees receiving monetary awards and covered expenses to travel to ESCMID Global– details below. The 2024 Challenge included the first student prize. In April 2025, we launched the third Vivli AMR Surveillance Data Challenge, funded by Johnson & Johnson, Paratek, Pfizer, Vivli, and an NIH award*. The finalists and awardees will be announced later this fall, so stay tuned! We look forward to seeing some of the awardees and data contributors in person at Vivli’s annual meeting this fall on October 23rd to present their findings and discuss the challenge.
We look forward to the Register’s 4th year, with the hope of encouraging more researchers to undertake critical research ventures, including tracking trends in multi-drug resistance over time, predicting future resistance patterns, and informing antibiotic stewardship initiatives.
